MG Takes Center Stage at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024!
Held annually in West Sussex, UK, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the most anticipated events for car enthusiasts and automakers worldwide, drawing around 150,000 visitors to join the festivity each year. This year’s theme, “Horseless to Hybrid”, showcases the evolution of automotive energy over the past 130 years, highlighting relentless innovation and breakthroughs.
Marking its 100th anniversary, MG returns to Goodwood as the Proud Central Feature Partner. Outside Goodwood House, the iconic sculpture annually crafted by artist Gerry Judah pays homage to MG’s 100-year legacy. The massive ring symbolizes the wheels of history rolling forward, while the red beam and connecting cables, inspired by early aircraft, create a stunning visual. The classic MGB and MG’s first all-electric convertible, the Cyberster, are positioned at opposite ends of the “wings”, embodying balance and signifying MG’s century of innovation and soaring progress.
MG showcased several new models on site, with the soon-to-be-launched MG Cyberster for the European market taking center stage and participating in Goodwood’s traditional hill climb. For a century, speed, racetracks, and sports cars have been the unwavering essences of MG’s brand identity. As MG’s partner, Bose not only custom-engineered a premium sound system for Cyberster but also debuted its Electric Vehicle Sound Enhancement (EVSE) technology on an MG model, enriching the driving experience of this all-electric sports car.
Inside the MG Cyberster, the Bose strategically placed silk dome tweeters deliver crisp, high frequencies. The Super65 wide-range speakers, coupled with a custom bass enclosure at the front of the trunk, provide a rich, solid bass performance. The Bose professional tuning team has performed two tuning modes according to the acoustic environment of the cabin when the top is opened or closed. Whether cruising with the top down in nature or enjoying the cocooned comfort of a closed top, drivers and passengers alike can experience the immersive and broad soundstage.
In addition, The MG Cyberster uses Bose Electric Vehicle Sound Enhancement (EVSE) technology. Bose Active Sound Management (ASM) engineer team has crafted two distinct simulated powertrain sounds for Cyberster, allowing users to switch according to their preferences. Imagine driving this electric convertible through the iconic hay bales of the Goodwood hill climb, hearing what seems to be a deep, throaty roar of a high-capacity internal combustion engine. As you floor the accelerator, the surge of power pins you to your sports seat, with the wind rushing past, while the powertrain sound synchronizes perfectly with your sensory experience, igniting your passion. In the other mode, you are enveloped in futuristic sounds, as if piloting a “spaceship” surrounded by lively and engaging dynamic sound effects.
Whether it’s the exhilarating drive of the MG Cyberster or the ongoing excitement of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the passion for driving endures. Bose is committed to infusing the power of sound into more automotive brands and models designed for pure enjoyment and looks forward to partnering with more automotive brands to showcase exceptional products at world-class automotive events.
